General
A linoprint is a form of relief work in which a design is carved into linoleum, printing ink is rolled onto the lino and then printed onto paper. What you carve into the lino must be the reverse of the image you wish to print. Linoleum is made from materials such as solidified linseed oil, pine resin, ground cork dust, sawdust, and mineral fillers such as calcium carbonate. It's commonly used on floors. Early in the twentieth century, a group of Dreson artist used linoleum for printmaking.
